The Power Of Small Talk

Small talk matters more than you can imagine. Small talk can inspire and fulfill our needs by connecting us to our surroundings. It can change our perception of life. So what is small talk and why it can be so meaningful?

Small talks are random conversations we have with our hair stylists, co-workers, neighbors, or waiters. These talks can open doors that may lead to larger, more meaningful relationships. It can also help you decide whether you want to get know that person better or not. Small talk can often be something that forces you to rethink the universe and get a breath of inspiration. How many times have you started a random conversation with your hairdresser? Most likely, many times. Exactly these chitchat help you understand, empathize, and relate to people you know but not that well. Small talk at work can help build healthy work relationships.

It may happen to you spontaneously, when you run into someone new who randomly strikes a conversation with you. You could be sitting in a cafe, sipping your morning coffee or or doing whatever but anywhere there are people there is a fertile ground for a lively and fun talk.

What happens during small talk may resemble a marvel. You may never see the person again, you may not remember the face, the words or the settings. But something with make you experience change in your feeling, the sense of sharing, the act of revealing a curtain of unknown, and discovery of having something in common.

Once it’s over you would still have the idea something charming has happened in your mind. That there was something unexplainable, something startling, something beautiful. And the feeling would be so immense and inspiring that the world in your mind would literally change. Isn’t it magic? A magic of a small talk fostering a big change!
