When Barcelona set Neymar’s release clause at £222m no doubt it’s unreachable realistically no one in his right mind would buy out such clause. But then politics happens, as PSG is owned and financially backed by the Qatari Royal family.

Qatar want's to prove to the world that it's still relevant and a global financial player, unshakeable even with the vetos and isolation by it's Arab neighbours. So doing would not only show it's strenght and power but also convince FIFA that's it's more than capable to host the world cup 2022.

Then there’s Laliga, who are trying hard to reject the move using the recently introduce Financial Fair play regulation FFP as a ground to doubt PSG source, this explains a further interest which is the spanish Government, obviously no country in it’s right mind will feel okay to let go huge amount of taxes and revenues generated by Neymar through commercials anually with out a fight.

The third political interest you can guess is the French Government, already Macron is said to had congratulate PSG president in advance, with a likely retreat to welcome Neymar in paris. His budget minister Gerald, couldn't hide expressing his joy by saying “it’s better that this football player pays his taxes in France than elsewhere.”

And lastly politics aside PSG will have a better squad to help them edge further than UEFA champions league semi Final stage and ofcourse generate more revenue through, commercials, sells ads-on and sponsorship.
