Business Ethics Professorship Revived at George Washington University

The professorship brings focus to best business practices in an era in which consumers are concerned with issues such as sustainability and supply-chain waste. Kirsten Martin, the educator who accepted the fixed-term professorship, is GWU’s Strategic Management and Public Policy Department chair.

Through the professorship, Ms. Martin plans to launch initiatives that include issue-focused forums on corporate social responsibility, artificial intelligence, governance, and ethics. She also plans to explore the topic of technology and how it impacts privacy in the workplace.

Ms. Martin described the contemporary workplace as one that is increasingly challenging for employees to navigate when it comes to addressing ethical issues. Her role is of particular importance for new graduates, who face an array of potential pitfalls and mistakes on the way to business success.
