Why Am I Always the Person Who Has To Make Concessions?

Gaslighting is detrimental to your mental health

Yesterday, I wrote about my pastor bailing on my mother’s funeral.

I told the pastor how I felt, and now I have two friends mad at me for being “harsh” towards the pastor.

I told him I felt hurt, so I made other arrangements. I said I no longer considered them my church and wouldn’t ask them for anything else. The pastor’s response was that he didn’t understand why I felt hurt, but he wished me well.

I’d like to ask a question. Who is looking out for my feelings? I’d really like to know.

I suppose I should have thanked him for dumping me and leaving me scrambling and hysterical on Monday. Is that what they expected me to do?

I always get the blame when I talk about feeling hurt. It’s okay for other people to call out inappropriate behavior, but not me. I’m just supposed to take it!

It’s the ultimate in gaslighting.

One person even said, “You shouldn’t have said that because it’ll make the church look bad!“

Why can everyone else but me express their feelings? Don’t I count too? I guess not. If I dare to express mine, I’m the bad guy!

I’m tired of being everyone’s punching bag.

My mother’s funeral is tomorrow. If I can get through that, some things are going to change. Big time.
